that girl on tv.

Hello!
So I thought I'd start sharing some of my stories on the blog!
Maybe once a week I'll do a little "that girl on tv" post and share some of my videos.
I've never done it before, and thought what the heck why not?!
Some can be really sad, or make you angry-
{there are some horrible people in this world}
but i'll spare ya those stories and share my quirky ones instead!
I love meeting unique people around Omaha and sharing their stories.
It's why I got into this business.
So without further adieu here's one from this week!

Oh and PS I shoot, write and edit all of these video on my own.
It's called one-man-banding it-
just wanted to clarify before sharing.

Hope you enjoy!

valentines day diy garland.

Okay so I'm not super into DIY projects,
they usually cost me more money and time than just buying the dang thing.
But, I was decorating our place last night and ended up making the cheapest/fastest/cutest garland ever!
I promise I wouldn't share it on here if it was a bust.
And the best thing about?!
It was only two bucks!
Yes I said $2.00.

Here's five easy steps on how to make my favorite Valentines Day Garland:

1. Grab you glue gun/sticks, bakers twin and pom poms. I found the twin and pom poms at my local Dollar Tree- they have the best crafts!

2. Plug in your glue gun, dump out the pom poms and unwind the twin!

3. Lay the twin on top of the pom poms- I did a red, pink white pattern.

4. Put a little dab of glue on each pom pom.

5. Press the twin into the glue- make it stick real good!

And voila!
You have yourself Valentines Day garland.
See I told ya it was easy!
I love this because it's kinda 70's ish,
{and I'm down for anything retro}
but also because it's not supposed to be perfect- you can space out the pom poms however you like, and then you can drape the garland on whatever you like!

Here's how I styled some of mine.

Draping it over my bar cart was a must!

And then I just laid it over the table. It's supposed to look like a pretty mess, I promise!

One of my favorites, hanging them over our picture frames.

Oh and I also paired it with other garland as well.

So there ya have it!
Looks like a million bucks, but only costs ya two!
Woot woot to that.

Have a wonderful rest of your day!

valentines day wish list

Valentines Day Wish List

Valentines Day is less than a month away, can you believe it?!
Zak was asking me what I wanted, and I couldn't really think of anything..
but I told him just to hang on and that I'd come up with a couple ideas.
Okay more than a couple.
:)
I wanted to post my wish list on here-
so in case your honey asks you the same question,
you're treatin' yo self this year,
or having a Galentines day instead,
you have some great gift ideas locked and loaded.

And yes, that is a banana split pictures above..
desserts count as gifts too in my book!
Plus calories don't count on holidays, remember.

Below is a list of where you can find some of the items
(I made it really easy for ya)!

And for my hubby who will hopefully read this post,
these are just ideas-
and anything you get me is perfect.
Plus we're broke newlyweds, so a couple of these items are out of the picture,
but a girl can dream can't she?!

Have a lovely day!

xoxo

traveling the world, sleepovers and movie hopping.

Happy Tuesday kids!
Hope you're day is off to a good start.
I don't work till late tonight so I'm enjoying a little blogging time before I run errands.
Can I just say I kicked Monday's butt!?
You know when you have one of those no-ones-stopping-me-from-having-the-best-day-ever- days?
They're kinda rare, I know.
But yesterday was one of them!
I woke up early (score)!
Went to my first spin class in FOREVER.
So sad, because I really like going.
Biked 19 freaking miles.
(to most spin people that's nothing, but I was dying afterwards and so stinkin' proud of myself).

Then Romie and I had a long walk in the sunny 50 degree weather!
(the East Coast is being slammed by snow right now and in the Midwest it's like it's summer time, what's up)?!
But hey, I'll take it.
I had a great story lined up for work- everything worked out and I ended the night with a kick butt live shot.
Oh and then I came home and we had a sleep over in the living room.
Pretty darn productive day, and a happy day too.

Today wasn't that productive, I told ya they're rare!
I slept in and moved my spin class till later.
Oops.
But anywho I'm gunna do a little weekend round up.
We had a Married to Medicine activity night Saturday called an 'Around the World Dinner'
It was a blast.
We were was asked to bring a dish from our favorite foreign country, and everyone went all out!
It was like we traveled the world and ate our lives away all in one night.
We had dishes from India, France, Italy, China, Greece and the Netherlands.
Mmm.
So. Good.
If you haven't had one of these types of dinners with your friends, I totally recommend it.

We also had a movie night Thursday.
We went and saw American Sniper and Selma back to back.
I love that Zak loves going to the movies as much as I do.
It's kinda our hobby.

Gotta love dark blurry movie photos right?!
Our goal is to see all the Oscar nominated films and make our predictions as to who's going to win.
So far we've seen those two, Theory of Everything and Imitation Game.
We're hoping to see Whip Lash and Bird Man soon.
I still wish Interstellar or Gone Girl or Fury was nominated- all so good!
However my favorite has been Theory of Everything because I'm a sucker for love stories.
But so far I think Imitation Game might take it!
They're all so so good, it's hard to pick a winner!
Who are you rooting for?!

house hunting.

Okay Arizona people!
I need help finding the perfect little place to call home this summer.
I know the one pictured above is something out of a Nicholas Sparks novel, and hysterically out of the picture, but it's just too pretty not to share.
Dang you Pinterest!

Anywho.
We're fine doing the apartment thing, we absolutely love where we live now.
But the price of living is way less here, so we know finding the same quality in AZ for the same price is going to be a long shot.

I also want to look at small houses or condos for rent as well.
So with that being said, if anyone has some great recommendations please send them my way!
It's so hard looking via websites, and i'll be heading out this spring to look at places, but I feel like word of mouth works better sometimes.

Shoot I'd even live in this pool house.
hahaha.
But really.

I saw a charming home posted on Instagram a few days ago, and cannot get it out of my head!
Why is it so hard to find an affordable, little historic home in a clean safe neighborhood?
I'm determined to find a great place for us.
So cross your fingers for me!
And send any recs my way!

xoxo

Romie

So it's 11:03 PM..
Later than my normal blog posts.
Zak's sleeping-
he has a big final in the morning.
I took Romie running tonight and he got scared and suddenly stopped.
I turned around and his harness was off.
He started to run away..
and I chased him.
But then I started to run the opposite way and I got him to chase me,
thank The Lord it worked.
I kinda dragged the leash to get him to come close and I snatched him right up.
I held him close and carried him all the way home.
I was so mad and scared at the same time and started crying.
I'm really not a cryer either, but it just broke my heart thinking about what could have gone wrong.
He could have just kept running.
He could have slipped through a fence and ran onto the road.
He could have run into another dog..
(he's not good with other dogs).

He's now curled up next to me sleeping.
He's jumping a little, I'm guessing he's chasing squirrels in his dreams.
For about 20 seconds tonight I thought I lost him and I don't know what I'd do without him.
He's my little bear and I love him so dang much.
If you're not a dog person, or animal person, you probably think I'm a crazy.
But pets really are one of the greatest joys in life.
They love unconditionally.
They're always excited to see you.
They don't judge.
They're always there to comfort you.
And they're loyal and true companions.

I found him on the side of the road almost three years ago, and I couldn't imagine my life without him.

I love you so much pookie bear!

babies, marathons and graffiti.

Happy Tuesday blogger friends!
I seriously love this picture of Rom.
Just look at his little paws on my shoulder.
Such sass.
It's my day off (woot woot) so I'm starting it off with a little writing.

Excuse my like very out-of-order previous blog posts.
I wrote about Christmas, oh just three weeks later.
Oops!
But I'm back to my normal bloggin schedule now.
It's crazy how during the holidays we get so busy and it's kind of like normal life is put on hold for a few weeks.
Which, hey I'm not complaining about one bit!

But after a two week catch-up period of chores, errands, appointments and getting around to those things I put off in December, it's nice to have my daily routine back-
oh and if you don't remember my new years resolution was to have a healthier routine..
and it's coming along!
It might be slowly, but it's surely coming along.
I even signed up for the gym again and went to a class!

Anywho work life is going really really well.
I'm working on some investigative stories that I truly cannot wait to share on here.
PS..
once I'm done at FOX I plan on posting all my favorite stories for you guys to see!
So watch out for that:)

And home life going well too!
Last night we got to visit our friends in the hospital who just had TWINS!
Oh my goodness. They were like little pieces of heaven.
8 and 6 in a half pound boys.
They are beautiful!
It was so cute seeing Zak hold them, it was his first time with infants and I think it's safe to say we both left there baby hungry.
It was also fun to see all of our couple friends come together to visit them-
we truly are each others family's.
I'm so thankful for this group of friends we have here, and will miss them like crazy.

In other news, my sister ran a half marathon this weekend!
Like, how amazing is that!?
The first one in our family to do it.
I'm so proud of her!
I'm hoping she'll push me to become a runner when we get to AZ..
hahah we'll see.
But seriously, she's a rockstar.
And total inspiration.

This past week has also consisted of a few girls nights-
which are always a blast.
We discussed this article one of the nights-
it's a really interesting story, and a great one to dissect with your group of girlfriends.
The other time it was just a good ole fashion get together.
We do this things I call an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink lunch,
where everyone literally brings whatever they've got in the fridge/pantry sitting around..
condiments, baked goods, hummus, soup, whatever-
and you just bring it to someones house.
It ends up being the best smorgasbord of food-
and no one has to go to the store or cook anything.
I recommend this type of lunch if you haven't done it yet!

My week was also filled with Alpha Phi!
Yay!
I love love love being involved with my sorority as an alumna.
It's such a rewarding experience, and I love giving back to an organization that taught me so much.
It was recruitment week for my Creighton gals- and they did such a wonderful job!
I'm so proud of this chapter.
And I love advising for such respectful young women.
I'm also in charge of a alumnae group for newly graduated Phi's and I'm in the process of planning some super fun events, which is also a pleasure to do!

And for the random portion of this post..

I did a story on my favorite antique shop that was hit with graffiti (boo).

My mom's dog is hilarious and so stinkin cute.

It's been super nice weather lately- like 30's and 40's all week!
(watch now because I said that it's going to drop to zero)
but before it warmed up..
(it was so cold for a while)
I had these pretty snowflakes all over my windshield.

I got a birch box subscription for Christmas!
I know, I'm like 5 years late on this trend.
But, I'm still so excited to get this little blue box in the mail each month!

This is me and Rom currently.

He does not like when I'm on my computer.
Please excuse what I'm wearing.
I like to steal Zak's sweatshirts during the winter.

We hope you have a great rest of your day!

xoxo
