friendsgiving.

Isn't crazy that we're already half way through November?!
What the heck.
And we already celebrated with a big friendsgiving dinner this weekend too, which is making the month fly by even faster!
Mmm lets talk about that dinner.
Like wow.
We didn't really have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner last year..
so finally eating turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, salad, rolls, pie and ice cream was amazing.
It was with the Married to Medicine gang.
We went to another couple's home..
{who actually has a house}
and it was darling!
A long table, floral center pieces and tons of candles were all over the dining room.
It was really sweet.
I'm already craving all that food again.

It's also been snowing here like crazy!
We got 3 inches this weekend, and it's been freezing {like temps in the teens} ever since.
The good thing that comes with snow however, is lazy movie watching days.
Really though, when it snows everyone hunkers down since the roads are messy.
It's the best excuse to have a movie marathon.
For instance we've been to the theatre four times in the last couples weeks!
Interstellar, you are mind blowing.
And we might have started watching the Hunger Games all over again, preparing for the new one that comes out this week!
We're movie fans, okay?!

take-out movie night are my favorite.
Whole row to ourselves- yes!
I don't know- this is just a random photo form election day I wanted to include?

But the bad thing about snow A. working in it and B. poor Romie doesn't do well in it..
so there's totally pros and cons.

18 degrees!!!!
Anywho, I hope you had a great {and warmer} weekend than us!
Have a wonderful Monday!

xoxo

Oh and PS another good thing about snow- this ^^

:)

newlywed date ideas.

PC: Camitakesphotos.com
Hi everyone!
I'm excited to try something new on the blog today!
I first started blogging to share our proposal story.
Then it transformed into a wedding blog, where I wrote about planning our big day.
And now it's a place where I document all things newlywed.
From graduating college, Zak being accepted into medical school, moving across the country, finding a job, transitioning from Ms. to Mrs., and settling into our little life here in the Midwest and everything else in between-
it's been a dream and I love looking back at all the posts and remembering the little details.
Marriage is the best.
And so I thought I'll start writing about tips, tricks and pieces of advice that have worked for us-
A.) so that I can remember them in the future and
B.) help anyone else out who may be in a similar situation!

So today is about "newlywed" date ideas that Zak and I have tried out! And when I say "newlywed" I really mean a couple {dating, engaged or married} who's watching what they spend AKA broke. Because lets face it, if you didn't live in a ghetto apartment and penny pinch during your first year of marriage, were ya really a newlywed?!
If you didn't, you are one lucky duck!
Anywho here's a list of date ideas that we've tried-
yep every single one!
{We've been together for 6 years!}
And we guarantee they're fun & inexpensive.
:)
Hope you like!

lovely & lame lists.

Happy Veterans Day!
Thanks to all the past, present and future men and women who have sacrificed their life for this country.
You rock!
This photo is when we were honeymooners at the Pearl Harbor Memorial is Hawaii.
If you ever have the chance to go, do it.

So I'm switching things up today.
Instead my regular blog post about what's going on,
I'm going to start to break it up sometimes.
Into two lists.
A lovely list.
A lame list.

LOVELY:
- Today is our first day of snow!
- I somehow managed to get a derm appt., grocery shopping, cooking for the week, cleaning and a shower in by noon.
- The hubs came home to study since it's my day off.
- Romie curled up in my lap while I blog.
- Talks about babies.
- Grocery shopping at Target. Woot woot.
- My mom comes to Omaha exactly one week from today.

LAME:
- It's 20 degrees outside and I could't take Romie for our routine walk this morning because of the snow.
- I've had to take him outside 5 times already. He refuses to "go" in the snow.
- Carrying groceries up outdoor stairs in the snow when it's 20 degrees.
- Driving during morning traffic in the snow.
- Did I mention snow?
- My last day off is going bye way too fast.
- We still have all of our Halloween decorations up.
{we don't really have any Thanksgiving decorations}
.. so we're just going to have a spooky Thanksgiving this year.
That's okay, right?

PC: Pinterest.

^^ One day I want this to be my Thanksgiving table. Sigh.

Anywho, that's my day thus far. The pros & cons.
Hope your day is going good!

Corn Huskers.

The day after Halloween we made a big check off our Fall bucket list!
We finally made it to a Nebraska football game.
Nebraska doesn't have a pro football team, so Husker football is everything around here.
Everything.
We took the hour drive down to Lincoln to see what it was all about.
We went to Lincoln in the spring {click here to see that post}
and it was a blast so I was super excited for this trip.
I love love love car rides with Zak.
It's so weird, but I love when we always get lost, talk about our future, dream about our babies, goals, or jam out to T-Swift.
When we got to the stadium- our first stop was pizza.
I was told the pizza is a must..
{I had been looking forward to it all week.. until I found out they only served hamburger style and I don't eat red meat.. so Zak enjoyed my slice for me.}
:(
I got popcorn and candy, instead.
We headed up to our seats, which were literally the highest seats in the stadium.
Which ended up being pretty good because we were in the sun the whole time {it was 40 degrees out} and got to cuddle a bunch.
It was such a pretty stadium!
Everything was red.
I couldn't stop taking photos!

After the game we went out to dinner and grabbed the best cookies I've literally ever had from the Cookie Company, downtown.
I had a chocolate-chip-peanut-butter-oatmeal right out of the oven and it was heavenly.
I obviously was really healthy that day.

Anywho, if you ever visit the heartland you should check out a Husker game, they're a blast and everyone is just so darn "Nebraska Nice!"
:)

Get it!

^^ Everyone releases red balloons after the first touch down- I was so surprised! It was gorgeous.

^^ This one really shows how high our seats were!

^^ Best. Cookies. Ever.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend!

xoxo

happy halloween.

Happy {belated} Halloween!
I feel like all my blog posts this month have been Halloween this, Halloween that!
And. I. Love. It.
This year, by far, has been my favorite Halloween season of all time.
Like really.
I don't know if it's because Zak and I threw a party, decorated like crazy, made a Fall bucket list or what?
But man, this October was a good one.
Ha! I don't even think we recognized Halloween last year.
Remember that was still my emo-just-moved-don't-have-a-job-or-friends-and-my-husband's-in-medical-school-and-study's-24/7-life.
Yikes.
Did we learn from our first semester here or what.
Time management people, it's a life saver.
Anywho sorry for the depresso tangent.
I surprisingly had Halloween off-
{I never get holidays off} so this was huge!
Zak had classes till the afternoon, but once he was done we headed to the Nebraskan/farm version of Disney Land- Vallas Pumpkin Patch!
Woot woot.
We went last year and it was a disaster.
It was insanely packed, lines galore and just plain stupid.
We weren't even going to go again this year, but I won some free tickets so we decided to go the last day it was open {Halloween} and that turned out to be the best day to go!
It was empty.
We had a blast at the petting zoo, got to actually pick pumpkins in a patch, went down some slides, ate lots of sweets, walked through a haunted house and took a wagon ride.
It was seriously like we were 12 again.
I'm so glad I married someone fun.
He makes my heart so darn full it's ridiculous.

Afterwards we went home and carved our pumpkins-
we decided we wanted to make pumpkin carving contest our new family tradition!
We love traditions.
My bestie back in AZ does it with her fam every year and it's always a blast, so we had to try it!
We then ended the night watching The Shinning.
Halloween, you were great.
You're giving Thanksgiving a run for its money!

^^ So we took a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch {thinking everyone was going to pick pumpkins} until we got to the patch and we were the only ones who got off! So yeah we had to pick pumpkins with an audience of 15 people watching.. stressful! Hahah.

^^ we surprised each other with our carving.. I thought my cat was really good until he whipped out my Mary Poppins costume!
He won.
