easter decor.

Happy {almost} Easter!
You know I love decorating-
and when it comes to spring time and Easter, it's easy for me to go all out because most of my stuff is pastel, floral and bright already.
My poor husband.
Thank goodness he doesn't mind!
I've gotten a lot of questions about where I've found some of my home decor pieces so instead of just showing ya the photos, I also listed where they're from as well.
So I hope this helps!
One of my favorite things to do is go antiquing, and that's where some of this stuff if from-
but I'm sure you could find it at a thrift shop near you too!
Some pieces were also from our wedding and my bridal shower-
I was registered at Pottery Barn, Anthropologie and Target..
so you'll certainly see a theme there!
My three favorite shops!

that girl on tv.

So I kinda got behind on posting my stories, oops!
But I got one for ya today.
And sorry for the blurry photo- it's the best I could do!
This story's about a lady who had her car broken into while she was at the gym-
so the lesson of this is..
don't ever ever ever leave anything valuable in your car.
Even if you think it's a "nice" area, it's just for 5 minutes or ya think it's hidden.
Take it from someone who had her car broken into and purse stolen in college-
it sucks.
And if you can prevent it, do so.
Anywho, this lady was awesome to work with-
and a Zumba instructor, how fun!
Hope ya enjoy!

Oh and PS I shoot, write and edit all of these video on my own.
It's called one-man-banding it-
just wanted to clarify before sharing.

newlyweddiaries.com

Hello!
And welcome to newlyweddiaries.com!
Yep, that's right-
we changed zee name!
We did some blog spring cleaning, and decided the old url had to go.
It was a long and chunky.. and hard to spell.
So out with the old and in with the new!
And I'm kinda really loving it.
I hope you do too:)
Anywho, everything else is staying the same.
Just a little makeover to keep things exciting and fresh.
I think the new name fits pretty perfectly..
since this is the diary of twenty-something newlyweds.
And even when we're celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary one day-
and aren't technically "newlyweds" we always want to feel like newlyweds.
We always want to be excited about things, obsess over everyday occurrences and act like it's our first year of marriage.
So hip hip hooray for newlyweddiaries.com!
:)

PS I thought I'd do a little wedding reminiscing..
and PPS why can't we have more than 1 wedding?!
I say we get to throw one every couple of years.
They're just too fun to only do once.
Man!

gimme. now.

PC: Pinterest
As I'm doing my daily Pinterest routine, I stumbled upon these pieces of heaven.
WHAT ARE THESE?!
I've never seen them before.
And they pretty much look like the best donuts in the whole wide world.
So, if you know where I can pick some up-
holla at your girl.
BECAUSE THEY LOOK AMAZING.
That's it.
Happy hump day folks- almost to Friday!

six things about me.

Good morning from Romie and I!
Excuse our bed head looks.
We woke up to a dark sky and lots of rain, which I'm not really complaining about.
I got all my chores and most of to-do's done with yesterday, so it's kinda nice being cuddled up inside when it's so rainy.
Anywho, hope your Tuesday's going good.
I woke up way way wayyy later than I should have, so it's been a slow start.
But it's my day off, so I guess it's okay?
I thought it'd be fun to share some random things about myself that you might not've known..
I got the idea after talking with my co workers who thought I was lying when I said I've been to Africa!
And plus not much has been going on around here haha so I don't have much to report on..
I live an exciting life, I tell ya!
Okay so here it goes:

1. I have been to Africa, Mali to be exact. It's in West Africa. I spent a month in a rural village building a school foundation for the kiddos. My senior class wanted to leave a legacy, so we raised a bunch of money and built a school in Africa. Pretty dang cool if ya ask me! I was one of the students who went for the groundbreaking. Hardest manual labor I've ever done in my life, yet the most rewarding thing I've done as well. The people there are AMAZING! I'm so thankful to have met them.

2. I've never had a professional massage before. Whenever I tell people that, they're shocked! Maybe one day i'll try it out.

3. I text my parents goodnight every single night. It's just a habit that I've always done, especially being away from home.

4. The most nervous I've ever been is when I had to give my high school graduation speech in front of thousands of people.. and the girl that spoke seconds before me used the same corny Dr. Seuss quotes... you'd think whoever approved them would've had me change my speech! Embarrassing.

5. One time my work suggested I bleach my eyebrows. And I came very close to doing so. Thank heavens I did not.

6. I still have my "bankie" aka baby blanket. And yes it's in our bed. And yes I'm married and almost 25. AND IT'S NEVER LEAVING!!

Welp hope you enjoy those little tangents!
And here's some more pics of Romie and I.
I obviously have too much time on my hands right now.

^^ this is his "too cool for school" face.

^^ this is his "get me the freak out of here" face.

friday night.

We're partyin' it up ova here on our Friday night!!
Haha NOT.
It's 7:30 and I'm home from work {rare} and Zak's studying the night away.
So I'm watching some shows, doing a little bloggin'-
should be going to the gym-
but lets be real it's Friday night and not happening.
Zak takes the most important test of medical school in two months and nine days..
so it's go time!
And I'm so stinkin proud of him.
He won't like me talking about him..
but I don't care :)
He's been kicking butt in his classes {like honoring four classes in a row type of kicking butt}, studying full time for this test and being the best husband ever, in the meantime.
He just continues to amaze me!
And he's going to make the most caring doctor someday.
So I'm trying my best to be extra supportive and his biggest cheerleader during this crunch time!
And not suggesting Netflix binge sessions or Harry Potter movie marathons when he has to have a good day of studying.
So that means lots of Romie and me time!
Which is perfect timing since the weather is finally warming up.
I'm also going to start doing some fun projects on here too-
some home decor tutorials and hosting tips that will help you throw the cutest and affordable get together.
Over the past couple years hosting and entertaining have become such passions of mine so I want to start  sharing them with ya!
But anywho, I hope your weekend is a great one!!

confession.

PC: Pinterest
I had two full days of great workouts and clean eating.. until last night.
{I know two days sounds weak- but hey we were out of town all weekend so you know I wasn't eating good and Monday was my fresh start}.
When there was breaking news at the very end of my shift..
and after 12 hours of resisting all the treats in the news room I scooped up a big handful of candy.
My excuse: "It's breaking news, I need this!"
Stupid me. I didn't need it.
And now I'm hosting girls night tonight..
which is always full of desserts and appetizers galore!
So wish me luck that I resist some of the sweets-
and get my butt back to the gym today!
Okay rant is over.
Sometimes I just need to write these hiccups down to hold myself accountable!
And I just think that cake above is so darn cute.
So random, but so cute.
Anywho hope you have a splendid Thursday- it's almost the weekend!
Woot woot.

donkeys, roads trips and spring.

Happy St. Patricks Day everyone!
Hope ya didn't forget to wear green today-
I didn't and paid for it!
We're being really crazy and celebrating with some green smoothies.
We're wild!

It reached 85 degrees yesterday.. can you believe it?!
I'm still in shock.
I was walking Romie and actually said the words, "it's hot."
SPRING IS FINALLY HERE!
And I finally got to wear just a sweater outside-
no winter coat!
I really hope I don't jinx it.. watch it snow next week.

Anywho life's truckin' along and time just keeps flying by!
Only two weeks till I'm visiting AZ again- woot woot.
This past weekend we went on a little trip to Galesburg, IL to see family.
It was so nice visiting, eating {way way wayyyy more than I should have} and just shutting out the world for a couple days.
When we move back to AZ, I'm going to miss being close to that little town.
It's so nice having family in the midwest.
We have to cross the Mississippi River and it's always to exciting to see!
Zak studying his life away.
Zak snuck this pic of Romie and I soaking in the warm temps on the porch. I miss being there already!

Work was a little crazy last week.
I did a story about a donkey rescue that got lots of attention- good and bad.
Can't get too much into it, but I'm so thankful to have a hubby who helps me through hard times and then has me laughing about those times a few hours later.
And after I came home from work he had dinner and a little fort built in the living room for a much needed movie night sleepover.
I don't know what I'd do without him.
And PS I'm truly thankful for people who open their hearts and homes to animals in need-
we need more of them in this world I tell ya!

This was my stressed face at work. Cute right?! Kidding.
Oh and I wanna give a quick shoutout to Romie for being the sweetest pup in the whole wide world.
While I'm blogging he's just so content laying in my lap.
I love him.
He's the best fur baby ever.

And I'll finish this post with some random thoughts and photos..

^^^My mom sent me this photo of her pup- he should be a dog model!

We've been eating lots of salad/smoothie combos lately in an attempt to be healthier..
blah.
Umm what else.
- I host girls night this week- so look for that post soon!
- I applied for my first AZ job- or at least asked if there were any open positions..
but hey that's a start.
If any people in the journalism world know of job openings.. help a sister out!
- Zak and I have some pretty exciting ideas for the future of this little ole blog..
tell ya about those later on.
- I'm still searching Craigslist daily for places to rent in AZ and they're still all nos. Sooo that's a little stressful.
- We've started a super strict budget and we're determined to stick to it. If you have any money saving tips send them my way!
- My hair is long enough to put in a pony without bobby pins! It's a miracle! But now it's in this in-between short and medium length and it's tempting me to cut it again.
- If anyone wants to do some blog collaborations let me know.. I'm in the creative mood!
- I've been thinking a lot about planning a baby shower lately- and no I'm NOT pregnant. Just thoughts! :)
- We got a new Wal Mart by our house and it's made grocery shopping MUCH better. Thank heavens for clean Wal Marts.
- I bought a bunch of reusable shopping bags that also make grocery shopping that much better.
- I have to miss this weeks married to medicine ice cream sundae party and I'm bummed. How good does ice cream sound right now!?
- I got my butt kicked in spin class today.
- Afterwards I went to the dollar store and found some great stuff for girls night and Easter- score!
- My day off is almost over so I'm trying not to look at the clock and notice it's already 6:15- where has the day gone?!
- And Zak is gunna take a little dinner break from studying now so it's my time to sign off!

Hope you have an awesome and safe St. Patty's Day!

xoxo

monday blues.

Happy Monday people!
I thought I'd share some tips that help me get through my Monday rut-
because lets be honest..
who likes Mondays?!

1. Get up and MOVE! I make it a big point to set my alarm clock a little earlier so I make it to spin class or take Romie on an extra long walk to get my day started. There's something about working out in the mornings that makes me productive throughout the day.

2. Treats. I like to reward my productiveness with treats.. but I'm also trying to be healthy {yuck} so I'll make myself a smoothie to take with me on errands or on my way to work. Sounds silly, but it makes car rides much better.

3. Write, write and write again. I make my "to-do" for the week on Monday mornings, that way I can see how my week is shaping up and I try to knock out as many tasks as I can on Monday so that I free up the rest of my week.

4. Taylor Swift. Or any good music at that. I blast a little T-Swift in the car, or dance around the apartment with Romie to get me energized and motivated when my caffein starts wearing off in the afternoon- dang you 3:00!

5. People. My people to be exact. Zak and Romie to be specific. Make time on your Monday to spend it with people you love. If Zak is home studding, we'll take a little break and have lunch together or sometimes if we aren't able to see each other during the day we'll plan to have a sleepover in the living room that night. Making plans {lunch dates, dinner dates, playdates, gym dates} with people on Mondays makes the day MUCH better and is the perfect way to start the week.

Well I hope my tricks help kick any Monday blues ya might have!
Just look at it as your fresh start to a new week!
Have  a lovely Monday!
