breaking news: I'm employed.

I did it!
I got a job..
possibly two if everything works out.
You're looking at the multimedia specialist for lovelyskin.com. It's a dermatology clinic here in Omaha and an online store for all beauty products and skin treatments.
I'll be in doing on-camera product assessments and beauty tutorials along with writing blog posts, editing videos and helping the marketing department. It's such a wonderful local company, and I can't wait to be apart of the team.
I'll be doing what I love and what I went to school for, so I'm truly grateful for this opportunity! Now go check out lovelyskin.com and get some great deals on the best skin care products around.

The second job is really really exciting too, but I want to wait a little while before I let the cat out of the bag. But I promise I'll explain in a few weeks.

This upcoming week is going to be awesome- I start lovelyskin tomorrow and then on Thursday I'm heading back to ARIZONA! Oh my I can't wait. It'll be a very exciting week to say the least. I start my first real big girl job and I get to see my family and friends (who I haven't seen in over 2 months). It'll also be weird not having my hubby by my side. We've been together 24/7 since we got married, so leaving him for five whole days will be hard.

I have lots to look forward to, I hope you all have a wonderful week as well.
P.S. here is some motivation for your work week, enjoy!

honeymoon film.

Aloha!
I know, i know. We went on our honeymoon, like several months ago. But the video we made of our trip got deleted off my old lap top, and I was able to re-do it on my new one.. so I had to post it! Looking through all these clips is making me miss island life real bad. Goodness gracious it was beautiful! Absolutely breathtaking. Hands down the best vacation of my life.
Maybe one day I'll get around to posting our photos.
One day.
Anywho, we're having a watching-Breaking-Bad-and-eating-dinner-on-the-couch-kinda-Friday night. It's a really good kinda Friday night.
Enjoy the film!

happy birthday husband.

My babe turned 23 yesterday!
It's blast being married and celebrating together. We started the day off with a big birthday breakfast. You know the whole works- pancakes, bacon and eggs! Mmm it was pretty delish. Oh and he opened his presents of course.
I just love spoiling him.
He scored tickets to an upcoming concert he'd been wanting to attend!
Afterwards I had to go to a little interview (ps I have some exciting news, I'll have to tell you about soon) and then Zak headed off to class.
When he got home we went to our favorite Mexican restaurant, Rojas and enjoyed a nice helping of chips and salsa. My favorite! And Zak's too.
Well when we got home I had a little dessert party planned but someone (cough cough Zakary) passed out at 6:30 pm. I think it's safe to say medical school is exhausting. I know I say it all the time, but I don't know how he does it!
I took some pictures yesterday, but they're on Zak's phone.. and he's at school.. so here are some of my favorites that I do have on hand.
Hope you enjoy.

happy fall.

It's officially fall!
And it really feels like it too.
I'm so excited to see the leaves change color and experience the different seasons. In Arizona you don't really get four seasons it's more like summer and winter. The temperature in Omaha has been dipping into the 60's and 70's, it's so nice! Such a refreshing change.

This weekend was great! How was yours?
We tried out a sushi place in Old Market with the Married 2 Medicine gang, and it was delicious! I love that our M2M get-togethers are at fun eateries, because it makes Zak and I eat outside our comfort zone. I swear if we had it our way we would eat at Roja or Red Robin for every meal. Afterwards a few couples went and played Cards Against Humanity. Neither of us had ever played before and let me tell you, it's the inappropriate version of Apples to Apples. But hilariously funny. It's such a bad game though, totally for adults only. Not a game you'd wanna play with kiddos!

Saturday and Sunday were very relaxed. I ran a few errands as Zak studied and we ended it by watching the Emmys. Did you watch it? Zak wasn't too impressed, but I enjoyed it! We both liked the opening act and I just loved seeing the different gowns that celebs wore on the red carpet.

Anywho, tomorrow is Zak's birthday! I can't wait. He has school for the majority of the day, but I still have some fun things planned for him. I'll make sure and take lots of photos!

Happy fall everyone!

plank.

No not plank as in the exercise movement, Plank as in the restaurant.
Plank Seafood Provisions to be exact. It's Omaha Restaurant week so we are taking full advantage of all the specials!

We went last night with another med school couple, and man am I glad we tried out this place. The decor was the cutest nautical theme and the food was to die for. We rarely eat seafood {it's a tad on the expensive side and we can never find a good eatery}, but this place had the best of both worlds. Great price and taste!

We'll certainly be going back to say the least. Hope you're day was spectacular. Only three more days till the weekend, woot woot!

falling in love.

Oh Omaha.

I know I have mentioned before that we've {or I really} have had a love/hate relationship with you. But this weekend has really helped me fall in love with yah.

I don't know if it's the change in season, being outdoors or surrounding myself with good company, but I'm feeling much better about you lately.

I think I needed the change in season to put an end to this summer. I was an amazing summer. It was a crazy summer. And now I'm ready to be settled in. I'm ready for routine.

I'm really thankful for this weekend. It's just what I needed. Friday night we took things easy. Zak has a huge exam tomorrow so he had to spend the majority of his time on campus studying in the lab. On Saturday morning I woke up and went down to the Farmers Market with some of the other wives.
It was cold out!
Can you believe it? It felt so refreshing.
We walked around downtown and I got to see a whole new perspective of this city.

The bakeries, the cafes and coffee shops. The families playing at the park, the dog owners taking their pups for a stroll and the joggers getting some exercise. The ivy that winds up old structures, the brick buildings and flower pots on the roof tops.

It was all so beautiful!

We walked around the market for a while snatching up each and every food sample, purchasing fresh produce and buying a few treats to take home. P.S I found the BEST Tzatiki. Finding good Greek food is rare, {I have yet to find a Pita Jungle taste alike} but this sauce is delicious! Anywho, after the market we stopped by the cutest coffee shop, Aromas. It's the perfect girl hangout spot.

We chatted for almost three hours.
It was like Chicken Soup for the Soul, Med School Spouse edition.
And I enjoyed each and every conversation. It's so nice getting to know the other wives. And the older ones are so helpful! I'm sometimes the only "M1" wife around and I learn so much from them. Everything from the different medical school terms, to the best grocery stores in Omaha and which dentist to go to- they fill me in. I always leave feeling educated about my surroundings.

Later that night we went to another med school couples house for dinner. There were about five couples in attendance (all M1s) and they were so welcoming to Zak and I! We were kinda the newbies. It was really fun being around the different couples. We're all going through the same thing right now, and it's nice to be around people who truly understand your crazy lifestyle.

After dinner the boys headed back to school to study some more {I told you they have a HUGE exam tomorrow so no messing around this weekend}. I stayed with the other wives and hung out the rest of the night. It was so much fun! I swear I've met so many new people within the last month or so and they've all been so sweet and welcoming.

The last four years I've been surrounded by girls {I'm in a sorority} so girl time was almost all the time. I mean I lived with 28 of them for almost two years! So when I get to have some girl time in Omaha, it's awesome. And I really enjoy it.

Today's been way more relaxed, but still just as good. Zak is studying away. I'm so proud of him. I honestly don't know how he does it. I would go nuts! It's SO MUCH information. And it's SO MUCH work. It takes a special person to be a doctor, I tell yah. I on the other hand have been having a little movie marathon. Rough day, I know. Argo and X Men have been my choices thus far. P.S.S if you haven't watched Argo, you need to ASAP. It's such a great film.
Certainly one of my favorites.

I think I'm going to make low fat baked ziti for dinner. Have I mentioned I'm starting to be quite the cook in the kitchen? I want to do a post about some recipes we've enjoyed. Another time another day, I suppose.

Well I hope you {whoever reads this bundle of emotions I call a blog} weekend and a blessed Sunday!

xoxo

goals.

I found this quote and though I'd share it.

It's a new favorite of mine.
I have a few goals I'm working on right now, and this is such a great reminder.

birthday girl.

Another year has come and past. I'm twenty three now!

Crazy.

It was an awesome day. Zak out did himself really. He always tells me his goal in life is to make me happy, and that he does.

First I should warn you that he is a the king of surprises. He always has something pulled up his sleeve. I never try and guess. I love waiting to see what he has planned each time.

When I woke up yesterday I was greeted with a smile and a kiss and led out to our living room which was adorned in pink and mint streamers, balloons and banners. His decorating skills are the cutest, I swear.

He had me open some of the presents, I snagged three adorable white owl vases and a couple cute blouses. Then he pulled out the fruitiest birthday cake I had ever seen.
Side note: Whole Foods has the best cakes!
Anyways, that sucker was gone within the hour. No mercy.

After we finished eating cake for breakfast, I turned around and saw one more present sitting on the table with a big teal bow on it. I started to rip off the wrapping paper and saw the words "MacBook Pro."

I literally could not believe it.
Honestly, I backed away from it and kept asking if it were real about five times.
Seriously he's the best.
I don't even know what to say.
A new laptop.

WOOT WOOT!

After present opening, Zak headed off to take a quiz and I got ready for our day date plans. We went to our local iPic theater to see "We're the Millers" and then headed to our favorite Mexican restaurant Roja's for some good ole chips and salsa. If you can't tell by reading this blog, chips and salsa aka Mexican food is one of our favorite types of food.
We eat it any chance we get.

Afterwards we headed home, I blew out my candles and made a wish! We had already eaten my cake, so we made do with a fudge bar to hold the candles. It was a mighty fine substitute if you ask me.

I also had a Skype session with my family too.
It was more like a cry fest actually.
I don't know if we're just an emotional family or what, but the tears were flowing!
We just miss them so much. But it was so nice being able to see everyone, including my pup Romie!

Oh and I can't forget about the snail mail! And a package from my pops.
One fun thing about living out of state is getting things in mail, it's always fun and never gets old.
Zak's side of the family is just too sweet to me. All of his grandmas sent me birthday cards, including his great grandma. I mean, how cute it that? I hope I remember all of my grandkids birthdays when I'm in my nineties too.

We finished the night ending book five of the Harry Potter series. That's right, we're HP nerds. And read together. Well it's more like Zak reads to me. We have our own little book club.
I love it. And every time we finish a book we treat ourselves by watching {and critiquing} the movie. So we got all of our pillows and blankets and had a little slumber party in the living room as we watched Order of the Phoenix.

Perfect way to end my birthday.

A HUGE thank you to my husband. You always seem to amaze me. And I am one lucky lady to have you for all eternity! I also need to start gearing up for your birthday now, you certainly set the bar high.

And to our family & friends. It was really nice {especially being away from AZ} to get all of the well wishes, text messages, phone calls and cards. I was feeling extra loved.

Thank you!

xoxo

tuesday talk.

So at midnight I turn the big..

tuesday talk.
I swear, time is just flying by.

College was done in a flash, we graduated before we knew it and got married in what seemed like a blink of an eye.

And now we're living in Omaha, Zak's knee deep in med school and I turn 23 tomorrow.

I'm excited about it. I think I'm more excited to spend the day with Zak and Skype with my family, to be honest. It'll be weird not being with my family, especially my parents, on my birthday. But I wouldn't change a thing!

Zak has a morning quiz and then the rest of the day off tomorrow{such a coincidence- that never happens} so we have some fun things planned, which I'm very excited for! He's making my big day very special. And I'm extremely grateful for that. He's the best. And has the greatest surprises.

Thanks babe! I love you!

Hope you had a lovely Tuesday.

J Crew.

Can we chat about J Crew for a second?

Okay good.
So, I have always had a little obsession with this shop. And I have always wanted to work for the company. It's just something I've wanted to do for sometime now. I actually filled out an application my senior year of college, but shortly figured out being a full time student and planning a wedding was plenty enough on my plate and the J Crew application got the boot {sadly}. I've had a few girlfriends who have worked for the preppy shop and have raved about their management and company leadership style, which has always intrigued me.

Well last night as I was switching through the television channels I saw J Crew & the Man Who Dressed America- and I had to watch. It was an hour long special that dove into the mind of Mickey Drexler, the genius behind the J Crew label. If you're a fan of the iconic brand, it's a must watch.

And so I've been toying with the idea of actually turning in an application to the local Omaha store. I'm still searching for a career in journalism or PR, obviously, but in the mean time I would love a chance to work at this company. It could almost be like a hobby. And right now I feel like I need a hobby to fill up some of my time. I think it's going to be my next little creative project.

I can just swoon over their clothing all day long. The bright colors, playful patterns and classic designs make my heart happy. Just walking around the store makes me smile. Oh and the style guides- to die for. The exotic locations and luxurious backdrops just pull you in. It's my absolute favorite catalogue to browse through. And I feel as though it fits my style perfectly.

Here are some pieces I just adore.
