Only Parks and Recreation fans no what I'm talking about. 

It's pretty much hanging out with your girlfriends Valentine's Day style.

Lots of pink,

lots of sugar

and lots of T-Swift playing in the background. 

Oh and no boys allowed.

Except for Romie, of course.

This was my first time celebrating Galentine's Day,

and it certainly won't be my last.

I totally want to celebrate with my AZ besties next year!

Ah Arizona, I can't wait for you and all the get togethers I'm going to throw!

Hosting and decorating has totally become a hobby of mine. 

And I can't wait to be around friends and family in a few months to do more of it!

But back to Galentine's Day.

Everyone brought treats, we had a little nail station and then just had some good ole girl chat the rest of the night. 

These girls have been such a blessing in my life.

And such a wonderful support system these two years in Omaha.

I will sure miss them!

If you haven't thrown a Galentine's Day party yet, put it on your planner for next year. 

I promise you won't regret it.

So for the last three months I've been working on an investigative story, uncovering puppy mills in Nebraska. 

I drove over 9 hours.

Read through countless state inspection reports.

Saw dozens of abused and neglected dogs.

And met some of the most amazing people ever. 

It was the hardest, yet most rewarding story I've done thus far.

It was gut wrenching to see these puppy mills.

And it broke my heart each time I left a breeders facility and could hear the dogs and puppies yelping from the road.

Especially when it was only five degrees out. 

This story taught me more than I could've ever imagined. 

As a young reporter I learned to stand up to people who are doing the wrong thing,

how to really hold state officials accountable,

ask the tough questions, 

be persistent and never give up,

and I learned how to do this all on my own. 

It was empowering to know that little ole me can really make a difference,

that is, little ole me and a kick butt camera. 

My goal throughout this entire story was to educate people about these puppy mills.

I wanted people to get upset, be mad and do something about this problem. 

And I can truly say I reached that goal.

The attention this story has gotten on social media alone is incredible. 

I went to bed with happy tears, just reading all the posts, comments, likes and shares this story received. 

The numbers were astounding. I still can't believe it. 

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who watched!

I'm still honestly in shock that so many people tuned in, and want to make a difference. 

What I uncovered was hard cold facts that some of these breeders are neglecting, abusing and killing these puppies and dogs, and the state of Nebraska is allowing it to happened. 

This needs to change.

And the sad part is, this isn't new news to some..

this has been happening for years.

But it needs to stop now. 

And I hope this story motivates people to do something about it.

to do lists shmodo lists.

So remember in my post, like two days ago where I said wish us luck at the DMV-

and that we were spending the afternoon running errands?

Welp that went out the window on Saturday.

 And we decided to ditch our to do list and go snowboarding instead!

Such a great idea. 

Seriously.

We needed time to ourselves. 

Some people might think, you're married without kiddos, you get plenty time together!

Ha! Not. 

With a hubby in medical school and me working nights- we really don't see each other that much. 

So we said forget our to do list, tasks, errands and studying.

We need us time. 

Away from computers, books and phones. 

So we headed up to a little ski park that's about 20 minutes away,

{why we've never gone snowboarding there before is beyond me- it's so close}! 

It was sunny and 54 degrees out, but there was still tons of snow on the ground so it was the perfect day to go. 

We didn't even wear jackets!

It totally reminded me of AZ. 

Score.

It was Zak's first time using a ski lift, so that was the highlight of my night. 

No one makes me laugh harder than him, and I freaking love it. 

LOVE IT!

And I love people watching with him. 

My stomach hurt from laughing so much.

We had the best time snowboarding, just the two of us. 

That was also a first as well.

We've always gone with other people in the past, and it was really nice just us two out there. 

Oh and it was dusk- so riding on the lifts while the sun was setting was gorgeous!

And very romantic!

I've never been snowboarding at night- it's so much fun!

A different experience for sure.

Afterwards we went to the lodge and hung out for a while.

Talked about our future, how our little family is everything and how being true best friends is a complete blessing. 

I love this man more than anything.

He's my soulmate, better half, high school sweetheart and most importantly best friend.

I wouldn't want to go through life with anyone else by my side. 

Marriage is amazing. 

People who knock it are crazy. 

Living with you best friend, chasing your dreams together, accomplishing life goals with one another and going through the day to day ups and downs in the best thing ever.

I love you Zak.

Forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. 

Thanks for an amazing day.

Oh and PS we ended the night eating Hardees burgers and fries in the and watching an episode of Sons of Anarchy {or current obsession} in the car.

Best day ever.

happy birthday cha!

Happy birthday this pretty girl!

She's the bestest best friend a girl could ever ask for!
Since 8th grade she's been such a gem in my life and I'm forever thankful for our friendship.
No one makes me laugh more, cry {while laughing} more or eat Jack in the Box Tacos at midnight more like her.
We've been on the greatest adventures ever-
and made the best memories ever-

{snowboarding for our first time, rescuing the houseboat, going surfing in Hawaii, cheerleading tryouts.... high school math classes, breakups, Pottery Barn dates, two weddings, and lots of girl talk till 1 am}
just to mention a few!

She's the funniest person you'll ever meet-
I've mentioned her a ton on the blog-
 here, here and here if ya wanna read,
she's been the greatest friend, especially with the big move to Nebraska, and the biggest support!

Wish I was there to chow down at your fave AZ restaurants, do a little shopping at Antrho and end the night with some bowling! 

Have the best day ever- I can't wait till June so we can be reunited!

I'm waiting for the hubs to get done studying at schoolio so we can start our super romantic day of errands.

Just thought I'd recap this crazy crazy week.

First I got called into work while I was literally in spin class-

so yeah I was struggling and seemed like a mad woman rushing to work..

not a good way to start the week.

Then we had a HUGE snowstorm that no one was expecting.

Like so bad I went into work and the power was out, type of bad. 

Oh and it was on Super Bowl Sunday, at the start of sweeps 

{that's what they call a ratings period in TV- count how many viewers you have}

sooo it. was. insane.

what the newsroom looked like when I arrived.. like a scary movie. 

I somehow survived though, and managed to still make it to the gym each day-

I'm trying really really hard to stick to my goals!

It snowed yet again half way through the week..

he's such a gent. :)

But this time it was a little better because Zak's classes were rescheduled and I was off of work so we hunkered down in the apartment and had a cozy day inside.

Oh and I made dinner two nights in a row,

woot woot. 

And we had a little smoothie/TV binge/dollar store date night in the snow storm too,

so that was fun.

But then Zak's car wouldn't start because it was so cold..

yikes. 

Romie finally walked through the snow!

He's a real snow dog now!

He's been scared of it ever since we moved here, but now that the temps are in the 30's he ventured through it yesterday and it was the cutest thing ever.

I'm such a dog mom. 

So all in all snow is pretty

 but, makes life a little crazy. 

Hope it's warmer where you are!

And the ground isn't covered in snirt!

Hello!

So I thought I'd start sharing some of my stories on the blog!

Maybe once a week I'll do a little "that girl on tv" post and share some of my videos. 

I've never done it before, and thought what the heck why not?!

Some can be really sad, or make you angry-

{there are some horrible people in this world}

but i'll spare ya those stories and share my quirky ones instead!

I love meeting unique people around Omaha and sharing their stories.

It's why I got into this business. 

So without further adieu here's one from this week!

valentines day diy garland.

Okay so I'm not super into DIY projects,

they usually cost me more money and time than just buying the dang thing. 

But, I was decorating our place last night and ended up making the cheapest/fastest/cutest garland ever!

I promise I wouldn't share it on here if it was a bust. 

And the best thing about?!

It was only two bucks!

Yes I said $2.00. 

Here's five easy steps on how to make my favorite Valentines Day Garland:

1. Grab you glue gun/sticks, bakers twin and pom poms. I found the twin and pom poms at my local Dollar Tree- they have the best crafts!

2. Plug in your glue gun, dump out the pom poms and unwind the twin!

3. Lay the twin on top of the pom poms- I did a red, pink white pattern.

4. Put a little dab of glue on each pom pom.

5. Press the twin into the glue- make it stick real good! 

And voila!

 You have yourself Valentines Day garland. 

See I told ya it was easy!

I love this because it's kinda 70's ish, 

{and I'm down for anything retro}

but also because it's not supposed to be perfect- you can space out the pom poms however you like, and then you can drape the garland on whatever you like!

Here's how I styled some of mine.

Draping it over my bar cart was a must!

And then I just laid it over the table. It's supposed to look like a pretty mess, I promise! 

One of my favorites, hanging them over our picture frames. 

Oh and I also paired it with other garland as well. 

So there ya have it!

Looks like a million bucks, but only costs ya two!

Woot woot to that.
