that girl on tv.

So I kinda got behind on posting my stories, oops!
But I got one for ya today.
And sorry for the blurry photo- it's the best I could do!
This story's about a lady who had her car broken into while she was at the gym-
so the lesson of this is..
don't ever ever ever leave anything valuable in your car.
Even if you think it's a "nice" area, it's just for 5 minutes or ya think it's hidden.
Take it from someone who had her car broken into and purse stolen in college-
it sucks.
And if you can prevent it, do so.
Anywho, this lady was awesome to work with-
and a Zumba instructor, how fun!
Hope ya enjoy!

Oh and PS I shoot, write and edit all of these video on my own.
It's called one-man-banding it-
just wanted to clarify before sharing.

Happy Thursday everyone!
Almost done with the week,
woot woot.
On Friday I found a local florist who donates her extra Valentine's Day bouquets to people in need!
How sweet is that?!
She'll take them to hospice centers, nursing homes and homeless shelters.
She told me she just wants to share the love of fresh flowers,
and give those folks a sweet surprise.
Thought I'd share this florists blooming idea!
Hope you enjoy!

future job.

Happy Monday!
I'm now off on Mondays- and Zak was a gent and stayed home with me.
We had a little mid afternoon book store date to pick up some new reading material,
and now he's studying away while I hit the blog.
I have so much on my mind with the big move coming up,
I feel like I could write for days!
{I also have lots of questions, too}.

Where are we going to live?
Apartment, condo house?
Is it going to be an easy transition for Zak?
How can we continue married to medicine?
What am I going to do for work?

And that last questions has been bugging me a lot lately.
It's too early to start applying to places,
but not too early to dream.
I love love love working in television.
It's fun, energetic and keeps me on my toes!
I just don't know if I want to necessarily stay in news specifically for the rest of my career-
{now don't count me out of news, I'm just thinking out loud}!
And making myself vulnerable..
and contemplate posting this..
but I have so many thoughts and dreams and things I want to do in life I just needed to write it out.
Trust me, I can't get enough of telling a good story.
I've been able to give a voice to people who wouldn't have been heard.
Hold government officials accountable.
And help others who are desperately in need.
{like this story I did on an elderly veteran who had his car and work tools stolen days before Christmas}

But there's a lot more out there these days that I'd like to try as well.
I follow lots of amazing men & women on social media who have started their careers in TV news,
and have now branched out into other areas of broadcast-
like lifestyle for example.
And I'm like,
"oh that looks kinda cool."
I have the degrees and experience to do something like that..
but then I'm like I don't know how the heck to even get started on that type of venture?!
Sorry I'm kinda ranting with my thoughts right now..
but it's what's on my mind.

So anyways, the purpose of this post is to say I want to stay in television or continue to be on camera, oh and hopefully start a family as well!
Wait what?!
Is that too much to ask?
I don't think so!
That's what my dreams looks like these days and I'm determined to keep chasing them,
and challenging myself, especially when we make the move back to Arizona.
I'm super thankful for a hubby who always supports my crazy ideas!
So like I've mentioned before if any of you are in the business, Cronkite folk, have any creative job ideas, or advice at all about this industry-
help a girl out and send them my way.

Have a awesome rest of your day!
Toodles!

So for the last three months I've been working on an investigative story, uncovering puppy mills in Nebraska.
I drove over 9 hours.
Read through countless state inspection reports.
Saw dozens of abused and neglected dogs.
And met some of the most amazing people ever.
It was the hardest, yet most rewarding story I've done thus far.
It was gut wrenching to see these puppy mills.
And it broke my heart each time I left a breeders facility and could hear the dogs and puppies yelping from the road.
Especially when it was only five degrees out.
This story taught me more than I could've ever imagined.
As a young reporter I learned to stand up to people who are doing the wrong thing,
how to really hold state officials accountable,
ask the tough questions,
be persistent and never give up,
and I learned how to do this all on my own.
It was empowering to know that little ole me can really make a difference,
that is, little ole me and a kick butt camera.
My goal throughout this entire story was to educate people about these puppy mills.
I wanted people to get upset, be mad and do something about this problem.
And I can truly say I reached that goal.
The attention this story has gotten on social media alone is incredible.
I went to bed with happy tears, just reading all the posts, comments, likes and shares this story received.
The numbers were astounding. I still can't believe it.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who watched!
I'm still honestly in shock that so many people tuned in, and want to make a difference.
What I uncovered was hard cold facts that some of these breeders are neglecting, abusing and killing these puppies and dogs, and the state of Nebraska is allowing it to happened.
This needs to change.
And the sad part is, this isn't new news to some..
this has been happening for years.
But it needs to stop now.
And I hope this story motivates people to do something about it.

snowstorms, spin classes and the super bowl.

Happy weekend party people!
I'm waiting for the hubs to get done studying at schoolio so we can start our super romantic day of errands.
:)
We've been putting off going to the DMV, but it has to be done-
wish us luck!
haha.
Just thought I'd recap this crazy crazy week.
First I got called into work while I was literally in spin class-
so yeah I was struggling and seemed like a mad woman rushing to work..
not a good way to start the week.

Then we had a HUGE snowstorm that no one was expecting.

our parking lot!

view out our window!
Like so bad I went into work and the power was out, type of bad.
Oh and it was on Super Bowl Sunday, at the start of sweeps
{that's what they call a ratings period in TV- count how many viewers you have}
sooo it. was. insane.

what the newsroom looked like when I arrived.. like a scary movie.
I somehow survived though, and managed to still make it to the gym each day-
I'm trying really really hard to stick to my goals!

It snowed yet again half way through the week..

he's such a gent. :)
But this time it was a little better because Zak's classes were rescheduled and I was off of work so we hunkered down in the apartment and had a cozy day inside.
Oh and I made dinner two nights in a row,
woot woot.

And we had a little smoothie/TV binge/dollar store date night in the snow storm too,
so that was fun.

But then Zak's car wouldn't start because it was so cold..
yikes.
Romie finally walked through the snow!
He's a real snow dog now!

He's been scared of it ever since we moved here, but now that the temps are in the 30's he ventured through it yesterday and it was the cutest thing ever.
I'm such a dog mom.
So all in all snow is pretty

but, makes life a little crazy.
Hope it's warmer where you are!
And the ground isn't covered in snirt!
{snow/dirt}.
