mom's here.

MY MOM CAME TO OMAHA!
It was the best.
Really.
You guys, I've been able to see my family each month for the past three months-
that's a miracle! And such a blessing.
I'm sad her stay went by so fast, but grateful for our time together.
We did everything and anything touristy!
When she helped us move in July we didn't get to do any fun things really, unless you count unpacking a million boxes fun,  so this time around we wanted to show her the city.
We..
Toured the Joslyn Castle
Ate lunch in Dundee
Walked Romie around Happy Hallow & Memorial Park
Ate dinner in Old Market
Went antiquing
Walked across the Missouri River
Had ice cream at Ted & Wally's
Toured around Creighton's medical campus
Made a beautiful Easter Dinner
Ate way too many sweets
Did some more shopping
Showed her around FOX42
And tried Wheatfields for lunch
window shopped in Old Market
looked at our new place we'll be moving into soon
laughed a lot
had a comfy night-in
and ordered Pizza Hut & Red Boxed a movie as if we were back home in AZ
It was perfect.
And even though she was our guest she still managed to spoil us {and Rom} rotten.
I lucked out with such a wonderful mom.
I hope to be like her when we have kiddos one day.
Love you mom! And miss you even more. '

Come back soon!

xoxo

I was so sad this came out blurry:(

weekend update: april edition.

Guess what?!
We decided on where we're going to move!
Woot woot.
We had some tough choices, but in the end we found the perfect place for us, and June 6th can't come soon enough!
I'm giddy just thinking of the dinner parties, game nights and BBQ's that we can host this summer!
We could never have anyone over to the place we're at now, so to say we're excited is an understatement.
Anywho, after a long day of searching & making lots of decisions we celebrated with some good food and a little walk around Midtown since the weather was perfect!
But then I think we jinxed ourselves, because the next day it snowed.
SNOWED.
Can you believe it?!
That better have been the last time- fingers crossed.

Best turkey burger.

We went to Cold Stone for the first time in FOREVER. This is also where we had our first kiss many years ago.

I really like food, can't yah tell?

Romie liked the weather too.

Next day, in the snow.

patience.

Have you ever gotten crappy news..
and then think, "whatever's meant to be will happen?"
Well sometimes that saying just isn't enough.
For me at least.
I would say that I'm usually a very positive person-
and when something goes wrong I try and be optimistic and plan a way to overcome the obstacle.
But right now I'm just bummed.
I won't spare the details, but my confidence is a little shot, and I'm disappointed.
I know what I need to do, I already have an action plan and am going to be resilient.
But it sucks.
I guess I just need to be patient. And see how things unravel.
Sorry I'm being emo, but I try not to sugar coat things on here.
Sometimes I wish I could just work at J Crew, teach spin/fitness classes, shoot wedding films on the side and be a mom.
Yikes that came out really fast.
But, it's a path I dream about most days. Can't yah tell?
Is that weird?
I do like my job, working in TV is pretty cool and very unique.
But sometimes I think my previous sentence would be cooler..
I just need to be patient. See what happens over the next couple months.
Maybe a new door will open.. hint hint photo above.

Welp, hope you have a better day than me!
PS I did go running yesterday, wootwoot.
PSS I'm not going running today, instead I'm going to Target. Yep that's right. And I might just get Skinny Cows too.
PSSS I wish I could go kidnap Zakary from school and have a cuddle day.
PSSSS Carrie is my idol.

omaha happy day.

Today is the official Omaha Happy Day!
A local holiday to celebrate the joy in life.
How sweet is that?
It has really helped me embrace the day, instead of dread it.
Sounds dumb, but it's true.
In case you didn't know, I'm always super anxious and nervous before I head into work.
It's silly, because once I get to the station those feeling go away and everything is fine.
But no matter what, I always have anxiety beforehand.
Always. And it sucks.
I try to ignore it, but it's always there.
I really do like my job, it's stressful, but I do enjoy it!
Pinky promise.
I work some really awesome people, we're constantly laughing and it's a new adventure each day.
And I always try my best, work my hardest and meet my deadlines.
So I just wish my brain would relax and let those fears {whatever they are} go.
So today, with it being Omaha Happy Day- I'm trying to do just that.
Relax, breath and know that work will be stressful, but awesome as well- so embrace it Sid!
Today, I choose happiness.

Have a happy day everyone!

xoxo,

PS I will go running like I said I would in yesterdays post.

spring time.

I think it's safe to say..
It's spring time!
Knocking on wood. And hoping I'm not jinxing myself.
It's been spring for a while.. but the weather has been anything but spring like.
Last week, it snowed.
SNOWED.
But this week it's been in the fifties, sunny and pretty nice.
So it's looking like the season is finally changing!

And with the temps warming up, I want to spend as much time outside as I can.
Hiding indoors this winter made me a little stir crazy.
I really want to start running outside..
I've never been much of a runner.
But I want to push myself, and as the weather gets nicer what better way to soak in some rays while exercising?
I feel like when I blog about it, it makes me more accountable.
So that's what I'm doing here.. sorry!

And the warmer temps also make me want to travel somewhere exotic and tropical.
Does that happen to anyone else?!
We just booked our one year wedding anniversary trip to Chicago..
I can't wait!
It's not tropical, in the slightest. However, there is a beach {lake Michigan}!
So I'm counting down the days till we're there.
That reminds me, I need a new swimsuit.
Aren't these adorable?!

dating.

Doesn't that pizza look delicious?!
It certainly was.
Zak and I finally got to go on a date last night.
It was really sweet.
Our schedules are kinda opposite so this doesn't happen often.
Can you believe this is the first time just him and I have sat down at a restaurant since January 1st?
We made a new years resolution to not eat out {for health reasons & budget reasons} unless we were invited out {like double date, and if so only once a week}.
But last night we cheated and it was great.
We went to Pitch Pizza in downtown Dundee.
We split two pizzas {the waiter said we were beasts..}
and then I grabbed some gelato afterwards.
Go big or go home on cheat night.. my motto.
But before this amazing meal we adventured to Old Market.
I love this section of Omaha, I mean who doesn't?
We stopped inside the craziest Antique shop.
It has EVERYTHING {I feel like Stefon, from SNL}.
Complete with a movie theatre, soda shop, ice cream parlor and a piano Lady Gaga used in one of her music videos.
It's a pretty neat place to window shop.
We originally planned to eat in that area.
We even thought it'd be fun to flip a coin (heads was north, tails was east) and randomly find a restaurant for dinner.
But we were stopped by a man asking to take our photo for a project of his and we ran out of time.
Only in Omaha.
We were on our way to check out a townhouse we're really interested in.
Cross your fingers we get it.
And send any happy thoughts or good luck our way.
We need it! Or I guess want it.
Anywho, I the best time dating my husband last night.
He deserved a little break from school and a nice celebratory dinner for all his hard work.
I don't know how he does it.
But I do know that I absolutely adore our one on one time when we can just shut the rest of the world out and be together.
Not too shabby of a Monday.
