Happy Monday!
We're back home after a few days in Chicago, and man I miss it already.
We went to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, and it was perfect.
I love adventuring with my man.
We like to go all out. Meaning tours, sight seeing, eating and walking everywhere, is a must.
We had jam-packed schedule exploring the city so I'm going to break it up, day by day, in different posts.
Oh and video too!
We arrived Thursday around noon, and were so giddy!
It was exciting seeing the city scape as we drove into town, it's such a beautiful city!
We rented an apartment in Wicker Park for our stay, so that's where we headed first.
It was originally a warehouse/storefront that sits above a few shops and owned by an artist.
It was super eclectic, very modern and almost like a photo gallery- art covered the walls.
Totally Wicker Park.
It wasn't our style, but we loved staying in a place with lots of culture and charm.
It made us feel like locals, instead of tourists.
We highly recommend renting from him via airbnb, if you're ever in Chicago!
We were both glad to have stayed in the Wicker Park/Bucktown area.
It was darling!
A very young and quote on quote hip area.
We loved the brownstone neighborhoods, tree lined streets and romantic cafes that surrounded the district.
After we settled in we took off for downtown!
Our first stop, a boat tour on the Chicago River.
The weather was perfect! Sunny, in the 80's with a slight breeze, we really lucked out.
On the boat tour we learned a ton about the Chicago's architecture and history.
It was great (if you ever go, do a boat tour!).
The city winds around a gorgeous river, and sits on the edge of beautiful Lake Michigan, which seems like a ocean.
After the tour was over we had dinner on Navy Pier-
the food was AMAZING!
We split pasta, pizza and a Greek salad that was to die for.
When we go on vacation our motto is: calories don't count on vacation.
So yeah, we ate a lot.
After that, we called it a night.
We had left Omaha at 5:00 AM-
Zak was a total trooper and drove the entire way while Rom and I slept in the back.. so a good nights sleep was vital.
