ikea, babies and kansas city.

Since the move is getting close and closer..
{I swear all my posts have been about moving back lately, sorry!}
the girls and I decided to pack up all the kiddos and take a little day trip to Kansas City.
First of all, I'm grateful for living in Omaha because I've gotten to travel to most of the midwest states, which lets be honest if you would've asked me if I ever wanted to visit Kansas City before this, I probably would've said, "no thank you."
Haha and acted like these people in this video.
So it's given me a new sense of appreciation for these flyover states.
People, the midwest is beautiful!
And I promise it's not just flat corn fields for miles and miles.
This is my third time to KC and each time I leave I wish we had more time to explore.
It kinda reminds me of a mini Chicago, {minus the river and Lake Michigan}
the architecture is really cute and the food is pretty ridiculous.
You can see my other trips right here and here, if ya want!
But anywho me and three other wives {who are all preggers} and two cute toddlers loaded up a rented mini van- and let me tell you for a mini van this thing was nice! And we to Kansas City!
Our first stop was food.
We tried a little bakery with the best soups and salads!

Then we headed to Buy Buy Baby- remember they're all preggo!
I had fun testing out all the cute strollers ya know for that baby we don't have.

Afterwards we ventured to Ikea.
I hadn't been in two years!
Can you believe it?!

We don't have either of those stores in Nebraska, which was kinda the reason of our trip-shopping!
Zak and I used to always have dates at Ikea.
We'd walk about dreaming of our home one day picking out the furniture while eating ice cream.
PS this Ikea's ice cream machine was out of order- sad day!
We wondered around the store and then let the littles have some play time.
Their food court was gorgeous {first pic in this post} and had pretty views of the city, which was relaxing after all the walking around.
Afterwards we headed downtown for dinner and dessert.
We opted for a New York style deli and custard.
It was pretty good!
After this week of binge eating all things fattening I'm now on a strict new diet/exercise plan, wishing I could go back and eat all of this stuff again... wish me luck!
We made it back late Monday night, and I'll have to say it was a very successful trip!
We had a blast, and I'm really glad we did this before we move.
I'm going to miss these ladies so so much! They've been such a wonderful support team, and will be our forever friends.

life on a farm.

There's a special place in my heart for little ole Galesburg Illinois.
It's where some of Zak's family lives, and it's been our little sanctuary these past 6 months.
Staying at his grandma's house means home cooked meals, lounging, talking for hours, playing card games and forgetting about the outside world or technology.
It's pretty great.
Oh and did I mention home cooked meals?
No joke I leave there a couple pounds heavier, but it's worth it.
:)
Haha even if I'm killing myself in the gym the next week..
and starting a new diet plan..
yeah I'll explain that later.
When we went to Galesburg last week it was in the middle of asparagus season, so I was able to help his grandma and great aunt pick- which I was stoked to do!
I think living on a farm one day would be so cool, so spending our mornings in the field picking the food we'd later eat for dinner, was really fun and kinda therapeutic in some ways.
Farm to table food is amazing.
We had asparagus and cheese soup, deep fried mushrooms, blueberry muffins, farm fresh egg casseroles, gooey chocolate chip cookies, this wonderful thing called scatter mix, cheese cheese and more cheese! Gourmet styled grilled cheeses on organic bread, spinach and chicken tortellini and spring salads.
Just typing this makes me hungry!
Gosh I love his family.
And I'm thankful to be apart of it now.
And and and I can't wait to go back again-
it's our favorite place!

All the puppy cousins hanging out.

Proof I picked.

How darling is the farm house?!

I loved the white flowers, yellow house and lace curtains. So precious!

Our road trip essentials.

Snapped only a couple pics of the food- I was too busy stuffing my face, oops.

We picked about 50lbs a day!

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

mothers day.

Happy belated Mother's day to all you mommas out there!!
I can't wait to be back in Arizona so I'll be able to see mine all the time, rather than every 6 months.
She's the best and I don't know what I'd do without her.
Even just within the last two months she has bent over backwards to help us with this stupid moving situation and I'm just so dang grateful to have her in my life.
I thank God everyday for our relationship and the chance to go back to Arizona.
I really do.
I cherish our time together, and she makes me a better person.
I gave her this hanky on my wedding day, and it rings truer now than ever before.

I love you mom!

april into may.

To say that April/May has been stressful is a freaking understatement..
Like, I feel that it's still April, yet it's already mid way through May.
What?!
Oh and PS sorry for my absence lately.
We've been super super busy and I feel like the weeks are going by in a flash!
Where to begin?!
Well in the last week I've gone from Nebraska to Iowa and Illinois, back to Iowa and then to Missouri and Kansas!
We took a few trips before we're gone for good from the midwest-
only 16 more days!
Remember when I said we had a home all picked out like a few posts back?
Yeah well scratch that.
Long story short- The Palms in Arcadia suck and we're not living there.
This is why my life has been so stressful.
We only have 2 weeks and 3 days till we're in AZ and we just now found a good place to live..
Fingers crossed we'll FINALLY have our new home set in stone this afternoon.
It's been two months of hell trying to figure out our living situation- but we didn't give up and move-in with our parents so I think we're doing good?
But anywho so that little "to-do" has been taking up most of my time lately.
And when we haven't been dealing with housing crap we've been trying to make the most out of our final days in Omaha.
We finally tried a little hole in the wall Indian restaurant the other day and it was SO GOOD!
I've never had that type of food, and I'd totally eat there again.
Afterwards I had Zak drive me through the historic neighborhoods-
I'm obsessed with the old houses and am going to miss them a lot.

We also had our last married to medicine group event:(
It was a breakfast themed dinner, and very yummy.
We brought donuts, typical.
{When it comes to group dinners, I stick with store bought dishes- saves time and money for this wife}.

Zak is in NON STOP STUDYING MODE and so my days are filled with lots of moving "to-do's", packing and Romie cuddles.

I'm so stinking proud of my husband.
And I'm trying my hardest not to be a distraction.. I'm good at that.
And instead be his biggest cheerleader during this crunch time!
YOU CAN DO IT BABE!
You're going to kick this board test butt.

red box and skinny cows.

That title right there makes me so happy.
Last week my "Sunday" was actually a Thursday so Zak and I planned for a little date night.
We're penny pinching like crazy right now with this move coming up..
{MOVING IS SO EXPENSIVE}.
and we're trying our bests to be healthy..
so we decided on some tennis at the park, Red Box and Skinny Cows.
A recipe for a good night.
I really suck at tennis, and Zak doesn't really suck at tennis so we kinda more or less just see how long we can get the ball over the net.. than an actual game-
but hey, it was still fun:)
And nice to get out of the house and enjoy the weather.
It was right around sunset and we live across the river from the city scape, so the view was pretty awesome.
Afterwards we swung by Wal Greens and grabbed a move and dessert.
If you've never tried Skinny Cows, you gotta add them onto your grocery list, now.
They're soooo good and guilt free!
When we got home I made smoothies and we cuddled up and watched the entire movie-
and neither of us fell asleep, woot woot!
It was a good night.
A really good night.
:)
